How Can I Choose the Best Facelift for Me?

Many individuals are interested in facelift surgery to address aging across the mid and lower regions of the face. While traditional facelift techniques restore youthfulness, they are not without downsides. This prompted Dr. Calabria to develop a series of alternative facelift techniques that are tailored to match your concerns and eliminate your fears.

If You Are Concerned About Natural-Looking Results

We have all seen images or real-life examples of what can happen when a facelift goes wrong. While it is possible for results to differ from what is expected, a poor outcome only occurs when the wrong techniques are used. Many surgeons choose to pull the excess skin laterally along the face instead of vertically. Pulling the skin sideways puts you at risk for an unnatural appearance. Dr. Calabria’s vertical facelift lifts the skin vertically, meaning that there is no chance for a windswept appearance.

If You Are Concerned About Facial Volume Loss

As we age, we lose skin elasticity and volume in the mid-face. Fat grafting is often used to restore lost volume, but the results are not always long-lasting. With Dr. Calabria’s stem cell enhanced facelift, results can be prolonged. With this technique, the fat used for the grafting contains adult stem cells which will continuously rejuvenate the skin and restore natural volume. Stem-cell fat injections are often used in combination with the vertical facelift so that you can achieve increased volume along with smoother skin.

If You Are Concerned About Additional Facial Aging

While facelift surgery targets many levels of facial aging to restore a youthful appearance, it cannot stop the natural aging process. Nothing can. Facelift patients understand that while the quality of their results will last for years, an additional facelift procedure may be necessary to maintain results. The adjustable facelift is designed for men and women who want to eliminate the need for another facelift. The adjustable facelift is very similar to the vertical facelift and provides all of the same benefits. However, additional steps and an additional internal suture allow Dr. Calabria easy access to the internal facial structures, so all future adjustments can be made through less invasive means.

If You Are Worried About Downtime

Traditional facelift surgery requires between one and two weeks of downtime with at least one of those weeks spent at home. Many individuals want the results of a facelift but are not able to take the necessary time off to recover. The one-stitch facelift is ideal for these patients. The one-stitch facelift is performed under local anesthesia so that you do not need to have a driver present at the procedure and you do not need to take any time off of work. The one-stitch facelift still addresses many of the areas addressed by a traditional facelift; however, the techniques are less invasive.

If You Are Concerned About a Receding Hairline

All surgical procedures come with the inherent risk of scarring. Facelift scars are typically considered to be minimal because your natural hairline hides them. Unfortunately, the hairlines of both men and women can shift over time. Many men and some women find that their hairline begins to recede as early as their forties, and the facelift scars that are supposed to be hidden by your hair are now fully visible. It is for these patients that Dr. Calabria created the tension-free facelift. This technique is ideal for patients worried about (or already suffering from) hair loss because it allows for less noticeable scarring. The tension-free facelift works by eliminating the tension placed on the incisions and placing it instead on anchors hidden underneath the skin. Traditionally, scarring is worsened by excess pressure on a healing scar. With the tension-free facelift, this is not a concern, and patients can feel confident that they will achieve lasting improvement in cheek, mouth, and jawline aging without the need for scars.
